Valdez and Bonin piece together fragments from a geography of memory in their assembled structures, cast forms, and delicate arrangements. Using paper, clay, wax, flowers, tinsel, plastic, concrete, plaster, dust and dirt, both artists’ work speaks to the layers of intimacy that is found in the handmade and in the quiet rotation of their processes. Constructed webs, nests, and hollowed-out forms are presented alongside layers of material that speak to home, to heritage, and to the passing of time.
“For you, unearthed, the dirt, my hands.” is an offering and a goodbye.
Opening reception, Saturday, May 24th, 6-9 PM
